Register now for our NY22 Candidate Event

WhatInterviews plus meet & greet with NY22 Candidates.  We will hear from each of the three candidates in separate 25 minute interviews.  Senator John Mannion, Councilwoman Sarah Klee Hood, and Professor Clemmie Harris have all confirmed their attendance.  (Remember that we generated questions for the interview and for our written candidate questionnaire at our February IMV meeting).

When: Sunday, April 28th, 3-5 pm
Where: Jewish Community Center, 2310 Oneida Street, Utica
Who: We are inviting all IMV activists and Democratic and WFP voters who are willing to volunteer for and/or support one of the three Democratic candidates.  We hope every person who attends comes to hear the candidate for whom they are already volunteering or leaves knowing which candidate they plan to support (volunteering, donating, lawn signs, etc.) for the June 25th primary.
Why:

  • Because the NY22 election is among the two or three most contested congressional races in the country, and we must have the best possible Democratic candidate to face Brandon Williams on the ballot.

  • We want to generate enthusiasm for volunteering and for voting in the primary election in June.

  • Your credibility when talking to voters will be higher when you can say you personally met the candidate and have heard them talk about the things that matter to that voter.

Please register HERE.  Pre-registration is required.  Please join us for this important event!

Give Now: Donations in April & May Will Be Matched!

Indivisible National is matching up to $500 in donations to local groups like ours between April 1 and May 31.  As an all volunteer group, we don't ask for a lot of contributions, but we do use funds to help pay for rental of spaces for meetings and events, purchase of stamps and postcards when we are doing electoral voter contact, and other small incidental purchases such as flyers and buttons when we table at events or knock on doors.  Please consider making a donation.  Even $5 or $10 will make an impact when that amount is matched.  If we hit the max of $500 in the two months ahead, we will have $1000 that we can use to support community building among our members and community outreach.

Please click here today to make your secure contribution to our ActBlue account between now and May 31 to have it matched.  Thank you for supporting IMV!

Climate Crisis Working Group

One One-Click Action for Climate!

The Iroquois Pipeline Company is planning to increase the amount of gas they push through their 414-mile fossil fuel pipeline running from the Canadian border to Long Island and NYC. Currently, they’re seeking a permit from the Department of Environmental Conservation to enable this expansion and double the size of four toxic gas compressor stations.

Additionally, the Department of Public Safety (DPS) claims that there is a need for the extra gas enabled by the expansion. There is no merit to this statement, and for an already overburdened working class community, it’s actually a horrifying development.

Can you submit a public comment opposing the pipeline expansion by using our one-click tool, created by NY Renews steering committee member New York Lawyers for Public Interest?

Call & Email for a Ceasefire in Gaza

Indivisible joined the global community in expressing our horror and grief at the loss of over 1,400 Israelis, Americans, and foreign citizens in Hamas’ horrific attacks on October 7, and echoed calls for all hostages to be released immediately.

Since then, the humanitarian situation in Gaza has deteriorated catastrophically with Israel’s ongoing bombardment and blockade of life-sustaining supplies like water, food, medicine, and power. The death toll continues to rise by the hour. The bombing has to stop.

Indivisible continues to support the recommendations from progressive foreign policy leaders, compiled by the Center for International Policy, for ending the war and protecting Israeli and Palestinian lives. The necessary first step is for US leaders to push for a cessation of hostilities to prevent the further loss of civilian life and escalation of human suffering.

This crisis is a challenge to our humanity. It calls us to lean into our solidarity, with our communities at home and with those on the other side of the globe, to fight anti-semitism and Islamophobia alike. It calls us to stand bravely for the basic principle that human lives are precious. And it calls us to advocate for peace, urging our elected officials to do the same.  Please take action now.

Don't Forget to Register for IMV's NY22 Candidate Event

One more reminder that our NY22 Candidate Event on Sunday, April 28th, 3-5 pm, is a big, important event for IMV.  Please register  today.  IMV's core purpose since we began has been to flip one of the most flippable congressional districts in the country.  We did that in 2018, but in spite of all our efforts, did not succeed in 2020 and 2022, which is how Tenney got her second term...and how we ended up today with MAGA Christian Nationalist Brandon Williams representing a district that went for Biden over Trump in 2020 by 11 points (!). Electing a Democrat in NY22 is doable, but we can't waste a minute, and we will need to work our tails off.

What if you find yourself in NY21?  There is still good work to be done!  You can still volunteer for one of the NY22 Democratic candidates in the primary election--we hope you'll still come to the NY22 candidate event on April 28th.  And, you can start building connections with Indivisibles in NY21,  write LTEs about Elise Stefanik, and let your neighbors know what a bad representative she is and how little she shows up in her district.  And remember that for many Indivisibles who live in very red or very blue districts across the country, the most critical work in any given election can be helping in the battleground states and congressional districts that will determine what happens with our freedoms and democracy for years to come.

Finally, if you are really excited to build a strong strategy to flip NY22, regardless of where you live, please join Caroline Reale and Jenna Azeez (new DCCC organizer for NY22) on Friday, April 12th, 6 pm, for an Oneida County strategy session. Please RSVP HERE.

Please review the calendar and SHOW UP for the trainings, advocacy, and progressive community building events that matter to you.

Democracy is not a spectator sport.
