Ready for a Fun Rally at Consumer Square in New Hartford?
Will You Be at the Stop the MAGA Default Rally?
We've known this was coming. For months, Indivisibles have been preparing for action ahead of the June 1st default deadline.
Why? Because Republicans in the House said that they would not keep full faith and credit of the United States unless President Biden agreed to slash the federal budget, causing hurt and harm to veterans, disabled children, seniors, infrastructure, education, and families facing housing and food insecurity.
The only thing standing in the way of their reckless game of chicken now is the pressure that groups like ours in purple districts put on our Republican Members of Congress to back down.
So, we are rallying, and it's been a long time since we've been at busy Consumer Square in New Hartford. It will be fun--bring friends and signs!

Climate Crisis Working Group
This week, members of the IMV Climate Crisis Working Group met with Assemblymember Buttenschon’s chief legislative director Samantha Corrigan and asked that the Assemblymember co-sponsor and advocate for several climate bills, including the three below. We will update you when we have her response. In the meantime, please take the actions to let her know that these bills have widespread support among her constituents. If AM Buttenschon is not your representative, the assembly and senate leadership also need urging to bring the bills to the floor.
Next Friday, May 26th, at 10:30 am, Senator May will be speaking at a rally in Syracuse for the NY HEAT act. Please rsvp to Maggie if you’d like to attend. margaret_reilly@mac.com
Three Actions for the Climate this week
Time is short, but we have a real opportunity to pass the NY HEAT Act which is needed to implement the CLCPA and two bills that address wasteful packaging, protect communities in NY who are living with landfills and trash incinerators, stem the tide of plastic pollution, reduce emissions, and reinvigorate our recycling system! Please take a few minutes to do the actions below.
1. Email: Please email your New York State Legislators now to urge them to support a critical new bill called The Packaging Reduction and Recycling Infrastructure Act (A5322/S4246).
2. Call: Packaging Reduction and Better Bottle bills
Please call Assemblywoman Buttenschon at 518-455-5454 and use the following script.
“Hi, my name is NAME and I’m calling from YOUR TOWN/CITY. I’m calling to urge the Assemblymember to please co-sponsor The Packaging Reduction & Recycling Infrastructure Act (A5322), the Bigger Better Bottle Bill (A6353) and NY Home Energy Affordable Transition Act (A.4592) The NY HEAT act will give the Public Service Commission the authority and direction to align gas utilities with the Climate Act’s emission reduction and climate justice mandates. The plastics bills are the key to reducing packaging waste, cutting climate change emissions, boosting recycling, reducing air pollution, and protecting environmental justice communities. I hope the Assemblymember will co-sponsor the bills and make passing them a top priority in the short legislative session. Assemblymember Glick is the lead sponsor for the plastics bills if the Assemblymember has any questions about them.”
If you have a Republican Assemblymember, please call Assembly Speaker Heastie (518-455-3791) and ask him to bring the bills to the floor for a vote.
3. Please also call Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins (518-455-2585 or 518-455-2715) and ask her to bring all the bills to the floor for a vote.

Please sign up to volunteer HERE.
IMV Call for Tabling Volunteers
There are several events coming up where we would like to have an IMV table to collect contact information, register voters, or share info about our mission. Many people still don't know that there is a progressive political activism group right here in the Mohawk Valley. Please email IndivisibleMV@gmail.com if you can sit at a table. Doesn't have to be a long period--a couple hours would be wonderful!
