Join IMV for Our June Meeting Next Sunday
IMV's June Meeting Scheduled for Next Sunday
The reason we have a second post this week is because we have finally scheduled our June meeting and it's coming up quickly, so we wanted to let you know the date and time. We'll be meeting for the first time in many years at Schuyler Commons Clubhouse, 1776 Independence Square on Sunday, June 11th at 4:30 pm.
We will have a short meeting and then pair up to knock doors in North Utica (Ward 6) for the Celeste Friend for Mayor Campaign. Can't canvass? There will also be a phone banking option. If you are not able to go out and knock, please bring food for those who are headed out over the dinner hour. (it's bring your own beverage, and if you can, you own utensils and plate--we'll have extras just in case).
Thanks to all those who came out and knocked doors for Celeste in Cornhill today. What a great event --it was like a street party before and after with kid activities, burgers and hot dogs on the grill, and ice cream. Building community and building political power go hand in hand. See you next Sunday!
June is for Festivals Update
Our table at Oneida County Pride on Saturday was a great success! We registered voters and collected contact information for people who want to get involved in political action. We will also have a table at Jewtica next Sunday (before our meeting), and at Juneteenth at Proctor Park June 17th.
Outreach is so important because people may not think about registering to vote until they are asked. Others might not know that there are elections in off years, or that they can make even more of a difference voting in local elections and primaries than in federal elections. Finally, too many people may feel like they have no way to be heard; they don't know how to get involved in politics. We're there to help.
The Friday morning email will come out as usual on June 9th, but we wanted to make sure that you have the recently scheduled June 11th IMV meeting on your calendar. See you next Sunday.
