IMV September Zoom Meeting 7:30 -8:30 pm Tuesday
Winning the Midterms Locally Starts Now
Please join IMV for our September Meeting (on Zoom!) Tuesday, Sept. 13th, 7:30-8:30 pm. We will hear from Francis Conole, and Jon Lipe, brand new Grassroots Director for his campaign. We'll also get an overview of our core Midterm messaging to help all of our Democratic candidates and a quick update on our overall electoral plan for the next nine weeks.
Here is the Zoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88407884701. Please share the Facebook event with friends and invite them. Our electoral power is people who take action by showing up to knock doors and write postcards, phonebank and write letters to the editor. The more people, the more power! See you on Tuesday evening on Zoom.
IMV Canvass on Saturday Needs Drivers and Door Knockers
Our IMV Canvass Kickoff on Wednesday in Clinton was a huge success! Thank you to all who attended, and to those who are preparing for our upcoming canvass launches in New Hartford, Rome, and Whitesboro. We are still looking for a Utica canvass launch host. Email IndivisibleMV@gmail.com if that is you.
This Saturday we have a special canvass launch for driving turfs in New Hartford and Kirkland. Sarah is hosting at 10:30 am, 19 Proctor Ave in Clinton. Whether you are a driver or a knocker, or coming out for your first canvass ever, please join us. There will be cider and donuts, and candidate signs for pickup.
We know the Trump administration terrorizes immigrant communities because cruelty is the point. Providing lawyers for immigrants gives them the chance to protect their rights when facing deportation. Indivisible Mohawk Valley always stands with immigrant and marginalized communities, so please call Gov. Hochul, and your Assembly and state Senators. Script is below. Also a lobby day in Albany is scheduled for March 11th. More details to come.
Meet Candidates at the OC Dem Women's Club Meeting
All are invited to join the Oneida County Democratic Women's Club meets Monday 9/26/22 6 pm at the New Hartford Public Library (Sammon Room) for a candidate meet & greet. Confirmed attendance to date: Dan Buttermann (NYS Assembly 122nd District), Fran Conole (NY22 Congressional District), Merima Smajic-Oren (Oneida County Clerk), Judge David Murad (NYS Supreme Court 5th Judicial District); invited but as yet unconfirmed are Oneida County Sheriff Rob Maciol, and judicial candidates John Dillon, Christina Cagnina, and Charles Keller.
If you have not yet had the chance to meet these candidates, this is a good way to catch several at once.
Tenney's Xenophobic Westmo Conspiracy Theory
If you haven't yet seen this investigative journalism feature by Ron Klopfanstein, please read and share it widely, especially with friends who live in the new NY24 congressional district, where Claudia Tenney won a primary and will face down a Democrat this fall. Discouraging about this story: our local media did not challenge Tenney when she used her official position to start and stoke this bizarre conspiracy theory. Uplifting about this story: all the local officials who made clear statements debunking Tenney's post, and most of all, the fact that the workers staying in Westmoreland have had good experiences with people in the Town since they arrived. The stories of these individuals will inspire you, and there's a call out for volunteers to help with English instruction at the end.
Climate Crisis Working Group
Save the Date: September 23rd for Climate Strike! If you would like to help plan please e-mail Maggie Reilly (margaret_reilly@mac.com) or Jennifer Geiger (jgeiger777@gmail.com).
Candidate Fundraisers: Connect and Contribute
Merima Smajic-Oren for Oneida County Clerk has been racking up endorsements and smart press releases in support of her campaign. She has a fundraiser on Tuesday, Sept. 13th starting at 5:30 pm at the Old School Bar and Grill in Utica. Definitely attend/contribute and then get home in time for IMV's Zoom meeting at 7:30 pm.
Caroline Reale (Oneida County Legislator for New Hartford and IMV member) and Sarah Klee Hood are teaming up to host a fundraiser for Dan Buttermann for Assembly District 122 at Piggy Pat's on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 5:30 pm. The flyer with complete information is available at this link. Please register and join everyone for this fun event!
Knit the District (NY22) is Back
Knit the District was the network of grassroots groups that formed across the eight county NY22 in early 2017 to unite and coordinate in flipping NY22 blue in 2018. As you may recall, WE SUCCEEDED! We have reconvened the group for weekly Zoom meetings on Saturday mornings 8-9 am. It's a way for those of us in the former NY22 to meet others who were in the former NY24 and are now all working to elect Francis Conole to defeat Brandon Williams, and flip the red seats currently occupied by Katko and Tenney BLUE.
You are welcome to participate in these meetings. Register at this link:

Here is what we will covering tomorrow:
· Sherwood Guernsey (Rural Freedom Network)
· Devin Howell (Conole Campaign's new Field Organizer)
· David Holmes (NY22 registration statistics)
· Jen DeWeerth (Door Knocking)
Final Reminder for IMV's September Meeting
Please make sure you have the IMV meeting Tuesday, Sept. 13th at 7:30 pm on your calendar, and save this email so you can find the Zoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88407884701. We want Francis Conole to see us and hear us, and we want to hear from him the message we should deliver to the doors in the coming weeks.
And don't forget to join CAFE Friday this morning if you can and/or join the Kirkland Town Democrats and IMV for a protest on the Clinton Village Green today at 4-5 pm. Saturday starts with an early morning Knit the District (NY22) Zoom, Canvassing (Meet up for cider and donuts at 10:30 --19 Proctor Ave, Clinton), and then the Peace Garden dedication at FT Proctor Park in Utica.
And of course, if you can, please write a Letter to the Editor about the accomplishments of President Biden, Democrats in Congress, or the importance of registering to vote (Sept 20th is National Voter Registration Day!) and showing up to vote on Nov. 8th. Our country is at a crossroads. It's time to come together to protect our freedoms by reaching voters. We decide what's possible.
Democracy is not a spectator sport.
