Doors. Postcards. Calls. Let's Reach Voters!

Our Very Last 2024 Postcard Party!

We're getting together on Sunday, Oct. 6th at 2:00 pm at the Democratic HQ in Utica to finish the remaining postcards for our candidates. Join us at 238 Genesee Street --and then it's a wrap on postcards!

  • If you can, please bring Halloween candy to donate to IMV's "Kids Vote" table at Harvest on the Hill.

  • Consider bringing a friend or pairing up after the cards are done to canvass.  Generally later afternoon on Sundays can be a good time to reach voters at their doors!

  • Not a canvasser?  Youi can still keep the voter contact going on Sunday.  Pair up at the party and agree to meet a friend on one of the virtual phonebanks below (calling Sundays, 4-6pm).

See you on Sunday!

Phonebanks You Can Join

After this weekend, postcards will be done.  If you can't canvass (not in town, physically unable, just not your jam!), then the next best thing to reach voters is PHONEBANKING!

The best thing about phone banking is that you can do it from the comfort of your own home--no rain, cold, or wind!  Since NY22 is one of the most contested congressional races in the country, we need as many calls to NY22 voters as possible.  You know this district and how to connect with the people who live here.  And you can pick a phonebank that lets you connect with people who share your political interests.  Join one of these regular phonebanks, active multiple times a week from now until Election Day:

Phonebank for John Mannion (NY22) & Democrats with Human Rights Campaign:  https://www.mobilize.us/hrc/event/652229/
Phonebank for John Mannion (NY22) & Democrats with Clean Energy for America: https://www.mobilize.us/ce4aaction/event/652229/
Phonebank for John Mannion (NY22) & Democrats with NY Democrats: https://www.mobilize.us/volunteerblue/event/645208/

Knock Doors

There's nothing like a face to face conversation with a voter!  We encourage everyone to pair up with a friend or fellow activist and do at least one shift a week from now until election day.  The conversations now are mostly with people who are voting blue, and so our goal is to ask about their voting plan, help them request their mail-in ballot if needed, and make sure they know how important it is to turn out for the Democrats on the ballot and Prop. 1 the NY ERA. Please make sure when you are signing up that you schedule extra shifts during GOTV --that's Early Voting Oct. 26 thru Election Day Nov. 5.

Walk with James Meyers in Camden Parade Tomorrow

Once again, James (candidate for State Senate 53rd and the first person in 14 years to challenge Joe Griffo on the ballot!) is looking for people who can walk with him in a local parade and show the enthusiasm of his supporters. In this case it is rural Camden's Homecoming parade.

Saturday, Oct. 5th,  1:00pm
Lineup will be at 12:30 pm at the Camden High School rear parking lot.
If you can join James, please bring a friend to double the numbers of supporters.
Please RSVP to
meyersfornysenate@gmail.com asap. Rural outreach matters!

Letters to the Editor: Deadlines Near

IMV"s LTE work group has been doing an amazing job!  Several more letters have been published in the Daily Sentinel, and we need those letters to keep coming.  The Sentinel's pre-election deadline is Oct. 18th. If you need assistance writing a letter or want to know where and how to send it to newspapers in the region, please contact our LTE workgroup leaders: Regina Kekis, fairview0926@twcny.rr.com, or Dick Meili, meilinys@frontiernet.net.

We know the other side will flood the zone with letters supporting the Republican candidates--every single one of them an enabler of the politics and party of Donald Trump.  So we need to have letters appearing on those pages as well.   Write in criticism of Brandon Williams or Elise Stefanik or in support of Democrats or in support of a particular Democrat such as James Meyers, Marianne Buttenschon, Adrienne Martini, or John Mannion.

Thank you, thank you, to all our wonderful letter writers!

Project 2025 Talk by Dr. Clemmie Harris

As you likely already know, Project 2025 is a dangerous right-wing policy wish list published by the Heritage Foundation that is aimed at consolidating executive power and radically reshaping the federal government and social policy under a potential second Trump administration. It is incumbent on us—as concerned members of our communities, party, and country—to learn more about this far-right policy agenda and share this information with other voters so that they understand how incredibly high the stakes are on Nov. 5.  In September, there was an overflow crowd at Jervis Library in Rome for this event, and there were many requests to hold the event in Utica.  Here it is:

"A Community Conversation About Project 2025," presented by Dr. Clemmie Harris, Utica University History Professor and Director of Africana Studies, will cover the origins of Project 2025, its key components, and its implications for our community if enacted. The presentation will be free, open to the public, and feature refreshments.

A Community Conversation About Project 2025
Presented by Dr. Clemmie Harris
Location: Mohawk Valley Community College, Schafer Theater
1101 Sherman Drive, Utica, NY 13501
Monday, Oct. 21
6:00-8:00 pm

NY for Equal Rights!

Please consider giving a small donation to New Yorkers for Equal Rights, an organization that has been working tirelessly toward the passage of Prop 1, the NY ERA.  You can read more about the Coalition, of which IMV is a member, and the effort to protect the rights of New Yorkers even as SCOTUS and states around the country--including Republican legislators in Albany--are trying to strip those rights away.

Donate HERE to NY for Equal Rights.  If you've been talking to voters at the doors or just in your network of co-workers, family, and friends, you know that most people have not heard about Prop 1, the NY ERA, yet, even though the election is just a few weeks away.  Because it has happened before, we can expect that Republicans are planning a last minute, fear-mongering, ad blitz to try to defeat the ERA.  We have to make sure that our coalition is prepared with resources to counter the Republican lies on the air.   Thanks for your contribution!

Feel like you need to know more?  Join a Zoom on Proposition 1 on Tuesday, Oct. 15 (6:30-8:00 pm).  Register HERE
We also encourage you to print and share this flyer when you are talking to neighbors, family, and friends:  ERA Prop 1 Resource Guide

Indivisible National Call on Tuesday, Oct. 8

Did you join IMV for the screening of The Sixth (documentary about the day the MAGA's assaulted the Capitol and tried to overthrow the government?) last week?  Are you an admirer of Rep. Jamie Raskin?  Just want to connect with the Indivisible movement beyond the Mohawk Valley?  Then October's national call is for you!

Register for Indivisible's National Call featuring Rep. Jamie Raskin, co-founder Ezra Levin, and the creators of The Sixth on Tuesday, October 8 at 8 pm. This is a panel you won't want to miss. January 6th was a modern tragedy and a dire showing of the lengths to which MAGA extremists will stretch to hijack our democracy. Hear from Rep. Jamie Raskin -- who was in the Capitol during the attempted insurrection -- alongside Ezra Levin and the powerhouse duo behind The Sixth documentary, filmmakers Andrea Nix Fine and Sean Fine. join us as we dissect the dark shadow of that day and light up the path forward, making sure nothing close to January 6th ever happens again.

The Most Fun You'll Ever Have Spreading Democracy

Harvest on the Hill is on Saturday, Oct. 26th.

We look forward to hosting our "Kids Vote" Table at the event on James Street in Cornhill once again. This is a very important voter outreach event for us.  We give out candy, help kids vote for their favorite candy, superhero, etc., and also talk to their family members about voting or registering to vote.

And it is a super fun event.  You can donate candy at upcoming IMV events, and we also need a bunch of volunteers. Here's the sign up sheet.  Whether you can help set up, volunteer for a couple hours to hand out candy, help kiddos vote, or talk to parents about the Democratic slate card,  WE NEED YOU!

Wrap Up

IMV Friends, there are just 33 days until Election Day!  Let's reach as many voters as we can and make every day count!

If you have not found a way to plug in yet to the electoral action and need some guidance, reach out to us ASAP at IndivisibleMV@gmail.com.  There is something for everyone, and every effort makes a difference. No one wants to look back at this month in their lives and think, "I wish I'd done more."  And remember to save the date for our annual Post-Election Fall Fiesta on Nov. 9th.

Fired up!  (FIRED UP!) Ready to Go! (READY TO GO!)  (Here's a great Obama memory of how that phrase became famous).  If you're at all flagging or you are stressed out about the outcome of this election, just watch this video and refill your tank with some positive energy.  Then, show up to one of the events below and join your voice and effort to the work we're in together.

Fired up.  Ready to GO!
