Don't Get Cold Feet Rally Jan 6

"Don't Get Cold Feet!" Rally

On January 6, 2022, IMV will do what we do best: rally and call attention for our elected leaders to meet this moment.  Here's our message: Senators Schumer and Gillibrand, don’t get cold feet: pass the Freedom to Vote Act, John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, and Build Back Better Act!

Join us in front of Utica College (corner of Burrstone Road and Champlin Ave) at 3-4 pm for our “Don’t Get Cold Feet, Democrats” rally.   You can also participate through our collection of warm socks, which will be donated to help our neighbors at the Morrow Warming Center in Utica as well as for soldiers who lay their lives on the line for our democracy.   $6 buys one pair for our neighbors AND one pair for a soldier.  Contribute today to Indivisible Mohawk Valley through our ActBlue link: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/coldfeet
Send any questions to indivisiblemv@gmail.com.

Together, we will win.

Letters to the Editor Identify Top Priorities

Once again we have powerful voices rising from the IMV LtE group!  On Dec. 26th, Regina Kekis and Carole Gehrig dominated the Utica OD opinion page with their respective calls for Congress to pass IMV's two top legislative priorities: Voter protections (John Lewis Voting Rights Act & the American Freedom to Vote Act), and the Build Back Better bill.  Way to go, Carole and Regina!

Please consider writing your own Letter to the Editor.  It could be to push our Senators to push these critical bills through Congress, or to encourage our state legislators or the Governor to prioritize climate funding or health care in the new year.  Let's keep getting our message out there.  If you need help with your letter, just reach out to the LtE group for assistance by emailing: IndivisibleMV@gmail.com.

What Are Your Activism Goals for 2022?

In an email last week, the Indivisible Team wrote this:  "Activists like you have done such an amazing job this year putting pressure on our elected officials.  Senator Schumer and President Biden’s pledges to move forward with this legislation in the new year would not have happened except for this massive grassroots campaign telling them we refuse to accept defeat."

Besides our January push to get Schumer and the Democrats in the Senate to pass Build Back Better and voting rights in the new year, what else is ahead?

The 2022 Congressional Campaign  Hopefully you enjoyed the chance to meet candidates for NY22 and NY 24 on the Zoom Dems Deliver candidate forum in December.  By now you should be supporting one or more of those candidates by liking and sharing their posts and tweets, making small dollar donations to their campaigns, and sharing their campaign emails and websites with your friends.  How do you want to help defeat Claudia Tenney?  Now is the time to start thinking about your plans for petitioning, phone banking and door knocking, and GOTV.

2022 NYS Legislative Session.  Our state senators and assembly members are going to be running for election this fall as well, and they need to know what we expect them to accomplish before they earn our votes and our support of their campaigns.  CCIA?  NY Health Act?  Funding for local needs, education, housing, anti-poverty efforts that  must come from truly investing in OUR New York (IONY)?   What are you committing to DO to make those things happen?

Strengthening IMV for the activism ahead.  Will you help with outreach to newly registered Democrats in Oneida County or your town or village?  What other ideas do you have for growing our community of political activism and making our efforts local, bite-sized, and fun?

Whatever your goals are for political activism in 2022, IMV is here to help you meet them.  CAFE Friday is always a good place to bring your ideas, questions, or suggestions, and everyone is invited to participate.  Join us tomorrow, New Year's Eve morning, and start making your plans for the best political activism year ever:  Friday, Dec. 31st, 9:30 am-10:30 am,  Zoom link HERE.   PW: 607973

Happy New Year!
