Vote May 16th for school boards & budgets
Brandon Williams Underwater in Recent Poll, Trying to take US Economy & NY22 Families Down with Him
Did you see this poll by House Majority Forward about Brandon Williams and the MAGA Republicans? Check out this press release we put into a google doc so you can see the results. Hint: His poll numbers are low and sinking. No surprise to us; when voters know what Williams voted for in the House Republican's "slash budgets and burn Americans" bill, they are not happy. Williams voted to take money from disabled children, hungry families, and veterans with medical issues. But he'd never consider a vote to reduce the millionaire tax cuts that would impact him. His votes and policies are wildly unpopular.
Our message is gaining traction:
IMV was contacted by The Rachel Maddow Show for pictures of the signs we held up at our Brandon Williams Sham Town Hall rally in New Hartford on May 1st.
Last night on a national Indivisible call, IMV Steering Committee member, Jennifer Geiger, told the story of our actions to shine a light on Brandon Williams' MAGA extremism and his sham town halls in the past month across NY22. Our photos and slides, and the pics of our media coverage were stellar!
We're making sure the media and public are not hearing only his MAGA account, but instead know the truth: he doesn't ever listen to voices of his constituents, he arrogantly dismisses their needs and experiences, and he votes against their freedoms and economic interests.
We can't let up the pressure now. Check out Indivisible's new Unrepresentative 18 webpage. Scroll down to select Brandon Williams
You can see how often he votes with Marjorie Taylor Greene.
You can see tools for calling his office or writing a Letter to the Editor about him. (If you are calling his office for any reason, make sure you do it from this page as this gives Indivisible leverage to report how many people are really calling him).
You can even see all the Indivisible Groups that are working together to unseat him--including IMV.
More tools are coming soon, including one page fact sheets about each of the Unrepresentatives, and graphics we can use on social media.
We've had enough of MAGAs pretending to represent NY22. Fired up, and ready to go!

Stop the MAGA Cuts and Default Rally, May 24th
In case you missed the important message (complete with new baby pics!) from Indivisible co-founder Ezra Klein on Sunday, here it is. If you read the whole email, you'll not only learn about the MAGA Default Crisis and how we are messaging and organizing to prevent it, but you'll also see that out of the nation's hundreds of Indivisible groups, IMV was one of two groups highlighted for our rally outside of Brandon Williams's recent town hall in New Hartford. Way to go! Our public events, letters, and actions are weakening Williams and helping more people in NY22 understand how having a representative like Brandon Williams is hurting us and costing us our freedoms.
We're on a roll, and we're getting ready for our next big action:
Stop the MAGA Default Crisis -NY22 Rally

Action You Can Take Today
Call Brandon Williams (NY22) or Elise Stefanik (NY19) and tell them that their vote on McCarthy’s bill was unacceptable. Though four Republicans voted against the bill, they voted against it because it wasn’t extreme enough. It wasn’t extreme enough even though it calls to slash 108,000 jobs for K-12 teachers and cut health care to seniors and disabled children. Every Republican vote was a vote against the needs of the American people and we are quickly running out of time to reverse course. Contact your Representative today and let them know that is unacceptable. Once you’ve called, write a letter to the editor demanding the House GOP stop pushing us towards a default.
Climate Crisis Working Group
Sign NY Renew’s petition to tell utility company National Grid to stop spreading fossil fuel lies! National Grid is supposed to provide NY’s residents with affordable energy. Instead, they’re focused on undermining New York’s historic Climate Law by spreading disinformation through ads and robocalls.
Through the fossil fuel front group New Yorkers for Affordable Energy, National Grid is actively lobbying against bills that would alleviate New Yorkers’ utility debt, all the while proposing increases on New Yorkers’ utility bills.
The science – and the law – is clear: we need to rapidly decarbonize our economy and electrify heating. Sign the petition and tell National Grid to stop spreading fossil fuel lies!

Vote on school board & budgets on Tuesday, May 16th
1) Vote to support your school district's budget. Public education matters. Rep. Williams voted recently to slash funding for public education, holding children and working people (teachers!) hostage to the MAGA default crisis. When you vote for public school funding, you shore up support for shared resources that benefit all of us.
2) Vote for school board candidates who believe in teachers, kids, books, and learning. There are candidates on school board ballots in districts across our region who are members of Moms For Liberty. They want to ban books and dictate what teachers can and can't teach based on their religious and ideological prejudices.
Stay strong, and stay engaged. Democracy is not a spectator sport.
