IMV Meeting on Zoom Monday night

IMV is moving back to Zoom for our September meeting Monday, Sept. 20th, 7-8:30 pm.

We have a full agenda as always including an overview from The Center about the expected influx of Afghan refugees, legislative updates, info on our door knocking and postcard efforts for local candidates, and an update on the Oct. 2 Utica Women's March for reproductive freedom.

Remember that we are just weeks away from the 2021 elections which determine who represents us in city and town councils, county boards, and on the judicial bench.  Elections matter!

We look forward to seeing you Monday!

Knock Doors Sunday 3-5 pm in New Hartford

Thanks to all those who showed up to knock doors in Rome last Sunday for Anthony Brindisi and Karen Stanislaus, our judicial candidates!  Let's have even more participation this Sunday for Caroline RealeIt would be amazing for a young, Democratic woman to win a seat on the Oneida County Board of Leg representing New Hartford.

Please meet at 3 pm in the parking lot of the New Hartford Shopping Center near Nicky Doodles.  Bring a charged phone so you can use Minivan (or you can also use paper walk sheets.). Wear comfy shoes.  There are always people who want to pair up, or you can be a driver or go out alone, or bring a friend or family member to knock doors with you.  We will canvass from 3-5 pm following a brief training.  This is exactly how we make politics bite-sized, local, and fun!

Women's March for Reproductive Freedom

Planning is underway for our local march in Utica on Oct. 2.  Please save  2 pm that Saturday for the march.  There is a planning meeting on the next couple of Thursday evenings at 7:30 pm.  Please email IndivisibleMV@gmail.com if you would like the Zoom link to work on the event.

Get Involved, Take Action

There are so many important events coming up, it is hard to know where to start. Please use the calendar below to schedule your time in the next few weeks.  Like budgets, calendars reflect our values and our priorities.  What are yours in these weeks before the 2021 election?

  • Support local progressive candidates through contributions of time and money.

  • Work together with people who share your values to build a more equitable world for all, especially those most impacted by racial, economic, social, and climate injustice.

Here's how:

Today:
Call NY Senators Schumer and Gillibrand today and let them know you want them to eliminate the filibuster now to pass the Freedom to Vote Act.

Then show up Sunday to knock doors for Caroline, and Monday at our IMV meeting.

Participate and engage.  In person or online.  At the local, state, and national levels.  We're the ones we've been waiting for.
