All in for Democrats Rally today, 4-5 pm Clinton Village Green

Make Calls, Knock Doors. DO SOMETHING

On Tuesday night, Michelle Obama was clear about the assignment: She reminded us of what Kamala Harris' mother told her: "Don't just sit around and complain...DO SOMETHING." Then she went on:  "So, if they lie about [Kamala Harris], and they will, we've got to DO SOMETHING.  If we see a bad poll, and we will, we've got to put down that phone and DO SOMETHING.  If we start feeling tired, if we start feeling that dread creeping back in, we've got to pick ourselves back up, throw water on our face, and DO SOMETHING.  We've only got 2.5 months to get this done. Only 11 weeks to make sure every single person we know is registered and has a voting plan. So we can't afford for anyone to sit on their hands."

On Wednesday night, Gov. Tim Walz was clear about the assignment as well: "Our job is to get in the trenches and do the blocking and tackling. One inch at a time. one yard at a time. One phone call at a time. One door knock at a time. One $5 donation at a time. Look, we've got 76 days. That's nothing.  There'll be time to sleep when you're dead. We're gonna leave it on the field.

What are you willing to do to help defeat Trump and the MAGAs in this election--up and down the ballot?  Make phone calls?  Knock doors? Write letters to the editor?  Register voters?  Write postcards to voters? What else?

Indivisible Mohawk Valley understands the assignment and we have a long list of ways to allow absolutely every person to find a way to plug in.  We have people to help you connect and get in the game. Don't delay.  Time is of the essence.  If you want to get started today:

Rally for Kamala Harris and the Democratic Ticket

Please join the Kirkland Town Democratic Committee and IMV at the All in for Democrats Rally today, Friday, August 23, 2024, from 4pm to 5pm at the Clinton Village Green. It empowers voters when they see that people in their own communities are excited for Democratic candidates and support the values of freedom and justice for all.  Bring signs in support of candidates and the NYS Equal Rights Amendment (Prop 1).  There will be signs available at the rally as well.

DO SOMETHING!

Ice Cream Social Tomorrow

Celeste Friend's annual ice cream social in Utica is always fun and delicious!  Buy your ticket now by clicking HERE.   The event is tomorrow, Saturday, August 24th, 2-5 pm at 37 Emerson Ave., Utica.  This year the event benefits James Meyers, running for the State Senate to represent Oneida, Madison, and northern Chenango Counties.  If you can't make it, consider contributing a donation anyway, to help James reach his NYS low dollar contribution campaign match.

Postcard Parties Thru Sept. or Pick Up & Go at Dem HQ

Postcard Parties will continue at the New Hartford Library from 4-5:30 every Thursday through the end of September. In addition to postcards for the NY22 candidate, John Mannion, we have added postcards for NY21 candidate, Paula Collins.  If you can't come to the Thursday Postcard Parties, you may pick up a packet of cards for Paula Collins at the Democratic Headquarters at 238 Genesee St during their open hours.

Save the Date for IMV's September Gathering

Our IMV September meeting will be a social gathering at Cafe Florentine (8647 Clinton St., New Hartford) on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 2 pm.  Coffee and pastries will be paid for by "Indivisi-Gather" national funds. Then, we'll head out in pairs to canvass voters.  This will be a social connection event with an electoral action added in.

Please mark your calendar and invite friends to meet other people who want to help elect Kamala Harris and other Democrats to office.  We're going to connect, fuel up on goodies, and then, as Michelle Obama urged us: We're going to DO SOMETHING!

Rome NAACP Forum on Project 2025

The Rome Democratic Committee and Rome NAACP are hosting a free event, "What you need to know about Project 2025--A Community Conversation" on Wednesday, Sept. 4 from 6-8 pm at Jervis Public Library in Rome.  Dr. Clemmie Harris, Utica University, will be the special guest to explore "what you need to know about how Project 2025 affects your community."

Join James Meyers in Rome's Honor America Days Parade

Because of the tornado in Rome, Honor America Days was postponed from the end of July to Saturday, Sept. 7.  James Meyersour Democratic candidate for State Senate (District 53 --includes Utica and Rome), wants to have as many supporters walking with him in the parade as possible.  Rome is Joe Griffo's home turf, and James is the first person to challenge him on the ballot in 14 years. Let's let voters know they have a choice---and it's an excellent choice at that.  The parade steps off at 10 am.  More details coming soon about where to meet up and when if you want to walk with James Meyers.

"If We Each Do Our Part"

  • Did you love the Democratic National Convention? Did it inspire you?  Then write a letter to the editor (LTE) and share your enthusiasm about voting for Democrats this year.  If you need help, email IndivisibleMV@gmail.com and we'll connect you to our awesome LTE group.

  • Stop by the Dem HQ in Utica and pick up some postcards that you can write to voters.  Paula Collins is including stamps with her cards--so you just write the message and drop them in the mail.

  • Sign up for Indivisible's Neighbor to Neighbor program. Start with a list of just 10 doors in your own neighborhood and a simple script.  You'll be the encouragement your Democratic neighbors need to make a voting plan.

Every moment matters. Every action matters.  As Barack Obama said, "If we each do our part over the next 77 days, If we knock on doors. If we make phone calls. If we talk to our friends. If we listen to our neighbors. If we work like we've never worked before...we will elect Kamala Harris as the next President of the United States...We will elect leaders up and down the ballot who will fight for the hopeful, forward looking America we all believe in. And together we too will build a country that is more secure and more just, more equal and more free. SO LET'S GET TO WORK!"
