We’re Launching Weekly Climate Actions: Fridays for Future
It’s been a while since we had weekly Friday events. (Remember the #OneTermTenney picket?) We’re starting up again! Our theme is Fridays for Future, part of the global youth climate strike movement. The first rally is Dec. 13th in the same location of the Dec 6th Climate Strike –Genesee & Memorial Parkway in Utica. For now our time will be 3-4 pm but when it gets lighter earlier, we’ll move it later until we get to our traditional 4-6 pm time slot.
For more information on Fridays for Future across the globe, see the website.
2021 Strategy Summit
The 2019 election was tough locally. We faced both strong Republican opposition to our challengers, and also low voter turnout. We’re bringing together a wide range of people on Sunday, Dec. 8th (1-4 pm) at MVCC, Alumni College Center 116, for a Win 2021 Strategy Summit. This is for people who want to help build the plan and do the work collaboratively to execute it.
The work may include everything from organizing more active and committed Democratic committees to developing more comprehensive candidate training and campaign support to preparing for more extensive GOTV efforts. If you’re interested in attending, please email IndivisibleMohawkValley@gmail.
Last Chance: Notary Public Training & Exam
Petition season will be here before you know it, an we’ll need people to petition registered Democrats and members of the smaller parties (especially Independence) as well. Mobilize on Impeachment!
1. Call Rep. Brindisi’s office and let him know that you support impeachment because no one is above the law, and because Trump has put our nation’s security at risk, obstructed justice, threatened witnesses, and put his own political agenda ahead of our national interest. 202-225-3665 or 315-732-0713. Republican PACs are spending millions of dollars per week on ads telling people to cal against impeachment, We don’t have millions of dollars, but please cal Rep. Brindisi anyway, and tell him to follow the evidence and do the right thing.
2. Share the message below on social media, with your friends, and in letters to the editor. It’s not complicated: It’s three sentences.
Trump used military aid to pressure Ukraine to interfere in our 2020 election.
Then he tried to cover it up.
He must be impeached because nobody is above the law.
This is the point at which Letters to the Editor are going to be extremely important. When people see in black and white how shocked their fellow Mohawk Valley residents are at the revelations coming out in the public hearings every day, and why you believe the President must be impeached and removed from office, it tells them that public sentiment is growing in our own community. Here’s a good tool to use to get started. You can tweak the letter to personalize it with your own words and thoughts.
3. If you like to do more, Indivisible’s impeachment hub dialer still going. Click here to sign up for a shift to call people who live in states where their Senators will need to be pressured to do the right thing on impeachment.

Help Citizen Action and IMV’s Education Work Group Press for School Funding
CNY Citizen Action is kicking off the campaign for school funding at City Hall on Dec. 3 at 10 am. Parents, students, and community members will be calling on Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon to vote in favor of fully funding our schools, which includes a 3-year phase-in of foundation aid.
Schools in Utica and Rome are drastically underfunded and our children are suffering as a result. The state needs to fulfill its constitutional obligation to provide a sound basic education for all children, regardless of skin color or zip code.

Why All These Events in December?
If you thought December has traditionally been a quiet month for political action, you’re right. Not so in 2019. We’re asking you to participate in climate actions and impeachment actions. We’re suggesting that you look ahead at future election work and do things like take a notary public exam an build a strategy to win local elections. This is crazy, right?? Shouldn’t we just be sitting by a fire roasting chestnuts, and drinking eggnog?
That would be nice, but that’s not the world we live in. We have to stop a corrupt and ever more criminally dangerous President. We have to support the youth of the planet who are trying to save us all from self-destructive climate change and map out a path to a livable future. And when it comes to the future, we want everyone who cares about winning local elections to participate in our Dec. 8th Summit. We are going to have to fight hard to win seats in our cities, towns, and counties in 2021, and that means we have to work together starting now.
Enjoy your holidays with family and friends. Drink and eat a little extra, Sing and socialize. Make memories, share and give. And also take action for our planet, country, and community. Because…
