What if every woman voted?

What If Every Woman Voted?

That's the question we've been asking since Nov. 9th, 2016.

So, tomorrow, we march, and then, a week later, we vote!   All are welcome to join women voters in Utica for IMV's We Will Vote Women's March.  We're going to get energized about voting and our Get Out the Vote work. This election is too important for anyone to sit it out.  More than 250 sister marches will be taking place at the same time across the country, and a large Women's March will be held in Washington, DC.  Our event in Utica is co-sponsored by YWVA Mohawk Valley, Citizen Action of Central New York, Mohawk Valley Latino Association, and 1199SEIU.

Here's what you need to know:

What: We Will Vote Women's March

When: Saturday, October 17, 2020 11 am - 12 noon

Where: Utica's Oneida Square roundabout at 11 am, march to Munson William Proctor Art Institute at11:30.

What to bring: A sign about why it is important to vote, why you will be voting in this election and a bag (or two) of Halloween candy to donate to Citizen Action.  They will be filling Halloween bags for kids in Utica that also have voting information inside for "their grown-ups."

We pledged four years ago that we would make the change so that our voices would be heard.  Let's get this done!  Wear a mask.  Social solidarity through physical distancing!

What Else Is IMV Doing to Get Ready for the Election?

IMV has been participating in a local group made up of Democratic committee members and grassroots activists called Election Coalition.  This group has been tracking changes to early voting locations, absentee ballots, and strategizing about how to reach voters under these pandemic conditions.  Here are some initiatives you should know about:

Rides to the Polls: Ad Merrell has been working hard to set up a rides program for Early Voting.  About 30 people have volunteered to give rides, although some have limited availability for the nine days of Early voting and election day.

All Things Voting webpage: Please share this page widely so that your friends know about early voting, and other key voting info. https://indivisiblemv.org/all-things-voting/

Protect the Results:  IMV will participate in Protect the Results, is a joint project of 100+ organizations across the political spectrum committed to protecting the valid results of the 2020 election. IMV will join in public demonstrations beginning Nov 4 as needed to mobilize should Donald Trump takes steps to undermine the outcome of the election.  More to come!

Letters to the Editor

There are just a couple more days left to get your Letters to the Editor in to local newspapers to be printed ahead of the 2020 election.  Please write one now in support of Anthony Brindisi, and any other candidate you are supporting in this election.

Here's a good example published last Sunday in the Utica OD from regular LrE writer and IMV member Dick Meili.  Jen DeWeerth's anti-Tenney letter was published in the Clinton Record in defense of the teen journalist that Tenney has threatened and had removed from one of her events to which media were invited.

Tenney Trump supporters have sent in letters to local papers on a steady basis every week.  We need to make sure that they don't drown out our voices, or give the false impression to the public that more people in the Mohawk Valley support Tenney than Brindisi.  Please send your letter in today!

Brindisi Phonebanking is now on Hubdailer!

Please join the Brindisi campaign in the last week of action before the start of early voting!  We're now on Hubdialer, which means that you don't use your personal phone number to make calls, and you don't have to dial all those numbers. Instead you just join the Zoom call, sign in on Hubdialer, and wait for the calls to come to you.  This is critical week to talk with voters who support Anthony about their voting plans.  We need to know who will be voting absentee, early or on election day so we know who to remind and when to remind them when it comes to voting.

Sign up for a phonebank right away, and help Anthony Brinidisi win one of the most competitive House races in the country.  Phonebanks sign ups are found here and in the calendar below:  https://www.mobilize.us/brindisiforcongress/
